Welcome to the MET-LAK company of Skarszewy, a manufacturer of metallic furniture and mobile racks. Our activity started in 1989. At first it was a small company of two persons, which has been developing each year, increasing its machine and personnel potential. In 1991 the company seat was moved to a newly built establishment in Skarszewy, and in 1997 the objects of a former Agricultural Services Establishment were purchased and the company seat together with production was moved there.

The company has 4500m2 area of halls and offices. Presently it employs 81 persons, including qualified production and engineering personnel designing new furniture models based on suggestions of our customers. The company is successively increasing the standard of social conditions for employees. A social building of high standard with showers, cloakroom, dining room and kitchen was put to use in 2005.

The priority in the MET-LAK company activity is continuous perfection and improving the quality of performed services by increasing the personnel qualifications and investments in a modern stock of machine tools. In 1999 the company began to apply powder-lacquered surfaces, commissioning a powder paint shop. Then two CNC machines for plastic working of metals were purchased in 2002 and 2003.

It was a big success and opportunity of even better development for the company to obtain in 2004 a subsidy of the European Union structural resources within the framework of the „Sectoral Operative Programme – Improvement of Competitiveness of Enterprises” for constructing an automated powder painting line, which was commissioned in July 2005. This is a painting line designed specially for the company's needs, which makes it possible to largely increase its productivity and quality of manufactured products. The powder painting line consists of: a washing and drying chamber, a painting cabin and a chamber for fusing the powder paint at the temperature of 200 C.

Within the framework of the same SOP-ICE operation in November 2005 the company was granted resources for modernisation of the products manufacturing technology by purchase of the most modern sheet metal forming CNC machine tools manufactured by Japanese company AMADA, i.e. electric servo revolving punch press and hydraulic bending brake with external computer aided operation package. For the following years the company is planning successive investments to modernise the stock of machine tools.

Since 2000 the company has a certificate of the quality system ISO 9001, in 2003 the environmental management system ISO 14001 was introduced, and since 2004 the integrated quality and environment management system ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 is functioning in the company. Besides, in 2001 the company obtained a certificate of conformity to Polish standards for metallic school cabinets.

The basic products of the company are metallic furniture: office – file cabinets, reinforced file cabinets, social furniture i.e. industrial safety clothing cabinets, school cabinets, swimming pool cabinets, household cabinets, locker cabinets, medical furniture – medical and laboratory cabinets and medical file cabinets, workshop and store furniture – stationary racks, workbenches, cabinets and carts for tools and other metallic products: benches, stands, cabinets for keys, medicine cabinets, chairs and tables. Besides, since 2002 the company offers mobile racks for use in archives. In the last year the company has widened its product range by the addition of metallic cabinets with doors of furniture board, which are exported mostly to Scandinavian countries.

Metallic furniture and mobile racks go to offices, consulting rooms, archives of many companies, state institutions and local government bodies, cloakrooms, schools, fitness clubs, hypermarkets and many other places. Since several years the group of foreign recipients is also growing in the following countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway or Denmark, and also in Great Britain, Russia, Estonia, Kazakhstan. Recently the company managed to enter the demanding German market.

Because of its activity, the company has been recognised by the customers as a reliable and solid supplier of metallic furniture characterised by high quality, aesthetic execution, functionality and ergonomics. Customer satisfaction is the most important for us, therefore we always try to accommodate our manufacturing processes in order to be able to manufacture any, even the most sophisticated metallic furniture models sought-after by our recipients.

This is reflected in the achieved honourable mentions and prizes obtained in the competitions in which we have participated:
- honourable mention in the Competition „Firma z Jakością” (Company with Quality) in 1998;
- I place in the Pomeranian Competition „Firma z Jakością” (Company with Quality) in metallic branch and in the large enterprises category in 2000;
- honourable mention in the Competition of the Pomeranian Prize „Gryf Gospodarczy” (Economic Griffin ) in 2001;
- honourable mention in the Competition „Pracodawca – organizator pracy bezpiecznej” (Employer – organiser of safe work) in the category of employers with 51 to 250 employees in 2001;
- the Prize „Panteon Polskiej Ekologii” (Pantheon of Polish Ecology) sponsored by the Minister of Environment and the President of the Polish Centre for Testing and Certification SA in 2003;
- I place in the competition for the for the Leader of Prize Winners of the Pomeranian Competition „Firma z Jakością” (Company with Quality) in the small business category in 2005.
